Picture of the Day.... with more to come....

I know I repeat myself over and over, but I have become painfully aware as of late, that my children are growing up too fast! This picture of Matt, although very handsome, killed me! I can honestly say that it seems like just a few weeks ago that he was born. I remember my Mom saying things like that and thinking, "time isn't going THAT fast" But, boy! It is now! I am seriously clinging to each moment that I have with these 4 terrific kids in my home. I love them all so much!

Ellie's First Field Trip

I had the privilege of going on a great "farm"field trip with Ellie yesterday. She was so excited to ride on a bus for the first time. She is an awesome kindergartener. I am so proud of her. She is learning so much! It is sad that my last little one is going to school. How did she grow up so fast? We had a fun time together! Next year is a HUGE milestone for us.. Ellie goes to first grade all day, Katie will be in her last year of elementary, Lindsey will go to middle school and Matt will be a senior! I don't think I can handle that! BOOO!!!!!!HOOO!!!!!!!

Fun weekend!

We had such a fun weekend with the Youngs visiting us and Rich and Heidi! We went to the Peter Pan play by Signature Productions, dinner, Matt's last cross country meet of the season, a hike, picnic and biking at Red Rock, the BYU/UNLV game, a Gladys Knight concert, and a birthday party for Rich! Mostly it was the great company and conversation that made it a hit! Thanks for coming guys!

BAD DAY

So, today was just "one of those days"....
Sometimes being a mom is just crazy! Going to the dentist always makes a mom feel great. (NOT) My kids have major dental issues despite our nazi approach to brushing etc.. We banned fruit snacks last year after Ellie had EIGHT cavities, and the dentist told me that fruit snacks were the #1 culprit. The people at the dental office always tell you the bad results of the x-rays and then say, "how often do you brush?" UH.... NEVER?
So Katie has been saying her tooth hurt off and on for a month or so, but never anything big. Those of you who are veteran moms know that your kid can tell you their tooth(or any other body part) hurts and then you never hear about it again.. And without dental insurance, I usually wait to see if it develops into anything or if it will just pass with time. Well, last night it began "killing" her, so I took her into the dentist today.
When they asked me how long it had been bothering her I told them over a month and the 18 year old hygenist who obviously doesn't have children of her own said, "Are you kidding me? And you are just coming in now?!" Well, I of course had to just bite my tongue off not to say something extremely rude because of how annoyed I felt and just said, "Ya, its really expensive without insurance." She just rolled her eyes at me.
I am driving an unregistered 1985 Dodge Diplomat (ya, its a beauty) so that Matt can go to seminary at 6 a.m. without getting a ticket in the van, and as I went to the bank today and disputed some things with them, I know I may have looked like a bit of white trash to them... And as I unloaded my $250 worth of groceries from Wal-Mart into the enormous trunk, I got a few pleasant looks from the passers by.
Now, I am about to take Ellie to the doctor at 5:30 p.m. She had a fever last Wednesday night, a sore throat and a stiff neck. I called the doctor Thursday morning, but they couldn't get her in until Friday morning. Well of course Friday morning she felt better and perked up, so I cancelled her appointment. Then over the weekend she was a little sluggish but not that sick, had no fever or complaints. Well today (Monday) at 3 p.m. she starts screaming bloody murder out of nowhere. She tells me her head hurts so bad "it feels like there are no bones in it". So I call to get an appointment and the doctor's office lady says "how long has she been sick?" You think I would learn my lesson from the dental office, but no, I feel I must be honest in case it is of some great medical importance... I tell her since Wednesday, and she says "And you are just now calling?" UGHHH..........ahhhh.... the woes of a mother..

THANK YOU UNCLE MARK!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Uncle Mark for the braces! We are so fortunate to have an orthodontist in the family! Especially one who is so willing and generous. Mark takes so much out of his time and his busy schedule to unselfishly provide braces for Dave, Matt, Lindsey and Katie and many other cousins! We are so grateful for him. Also it is a wonderful time for the cousins to all get together and see each other every 3 months! Thanks to Aunt Cosi for this part, for letting us invade her home, feeding us delicious meals and being such a great sport! We love our Colorado trips! THANKS!

Check out my Slide Show!

Today was soccer for Lindsey and Katie, we thought we would post some of their "action photos" sorry some are far away and hard to see! They play on a full sized field now and it is hard to get close to them and our camera doesn't have a great zoom! Anyway, they are always the blonde ones in the blue shirts and Katie has longer hair than Linds!

A BLAST FROM THE PAST

This past weekend I went to Boise, Idaho to see my sister's son get baptized. It was a very long drive, I went with my Dad and my other sister. We had a lot of fun. It is sort of amazing how time flies when you are not the one driving and there is good company! :) Anyway, Boise is where I grew up and we moved from there in 1981... so it was so neat to go back and see the house where I grew up... I had a very nice stroll down memory lane. I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone lived on a 1 acre lot and it was kind of rural. We had a huge pasture in a back yard with cows, a huge garden and a fort that we built in the top of our barn. It was a great place to grow up. I even got to go and see my old elementary school. It was a lot of fun and brought back tons of fond memories. I guess I am getting kind of old because it really made me feel sentimental, mostly it made me wish that my kids could have that same freedom to roam around outside and enjoy nature the way I did. It was so beautiful up there! It made me grateful for the childhood that I had and for my parents. They were/are the best!
