Feelin the pain

Arghh...blah ha ha ha...waaaaahhhh...
Okay- so I usually avoid writing posts about myself. I think that my children's lives are much more fun to write about- but I just cannot help it today. I am forty years old today. I honestly didn't think that this day would be so hard on me- but BAM! It is.
I have been unkind to myself today by taking a stroll down memory lane and looking at yearbooks, pictures of growing up etc... I think I shouldn't have done that! WHOA!!! I can't believe how old and out of shape I am-- new goals for my 40th year include, getting in shape and enjoying life more~ how's that?
Enjoy these blasts from the past! :) My graduation from Timpview HS with my parents, my first drivers license and an activity card from BHS... scary I know... go ahead- laugh it up.

oh and p.s. I didn't have a beard in my DL picture- dirt smudge that won't come off :) nice.

HAPPY ELEVENTH KATIE ELIZABETH!

Today is Katie's 11th birthday!  YEA for KATE!  It is so hard to believe that it was 11 years ago today that this little doll joined our family!  I was 6 days overdue and was SO happy when she arrived.  Katie had the "cord" wrapped around her neck and didn't breathe for quite awhile. They whisked her away from me and I didn't get to see her for about an hour.  When the nurses and Dave finally brought her back to me I was thrilled that she was okay and that she was so perfect!  Katie has always been such an easy child. She slept all the way through the night at 2 weeks old and has always been a very laid back kid.  We love her so much and hope she had a great day!  She got to take some cookies to class this morning and also got to go to Famous Dave's (her favorite restaurant) for dinner with the family, then cake, ice cream and presents!  FUN TIMES!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!

Last weekend...

This past weekend my Dad came down to visit~ it was really fun! We went to Hoover Dam and Grandpa took us out to lunch two days in a row. We listened to LOTS of music and did LOTS of karaoke.
Matt had Sadies. He went with Julieanne and they had a great time!

Aren't these cool shots of the Hoover Dam ?

Matt's last....Lindsey's first.

Last night was our tri-ward Valentine's dance. It was a memorable one for our family because it was Matt's last and Lindsey's first. The only dance they will attend together in YM/YW... therefore, Matt had the honor of dancing with her first! :) It is seriously sad to have all of these "lasts" happening for Matt. We can hardly believe that our little boy is all grown up and heading to college in just 8 months! Where did the time go? On the other hand- I can't believe that LINDSEY is growing up so fast!! It is great having Lindsey in YW with me- she is AWESOME!

p.s. AND YES-- Matt did dance with crutches-- he didn't want to miss this one! :)

MATT GOES UNDER THE KNIFE...

So poor Mateo- he had his knee surgery last Thursday- let's just say it hasn't been the most fun he has ever had. The damage was MUCH worse than anticipated- so instead of just a scope, they had to open him up and REPAIR the meniscus instead of just shaving out the tear. He had 5 anchors placed in it and 6 sutures.   They thought he had one small tear and instead he had 1 large tear and 3 small tears, almost the entire length of the meniscus. So, it STINKS! He has to be on crutches for 6-8 weeks with no weight bearing (school is going to be a real challenge) and then 6 WHOLE MONTHS until he can do any kind of sports ( he can't run or anything like unto it for 6 months). Needless to say, he is BUMMED.....So any prayers in his behalf would be greatly appreciated. Another bad point is that it only has a 70% chance of working... PRAY.PRAY.PRAY...
He has been a trooper though, he is almost weaned off of the pain pills after only 5 days and he went to PT for the second time today and did GRRRREAT!!! You can do it Matt! We love you!
The last 6 -8 months just haven't been the best for us medically- we are hoping to get off this train- FAST!!! :)

WEEKEND WITH THE COUSINS

Debbie and Rob and their kids came down this past weekend and we had so much fun with them.  It was a nice break in the "winter doldrums" to have some visitors and go outside and have some fun!  This unusually warm weather was AWESOME!  We played tennis a couple of times, played at the park, the boys went "shooting", we had a super bowl party at Rich and Heidi's Sunday and a homemade pizza night Saturday! It was a lot of fun!
