APRIL 28-- 1989

20 years! How in the world could we have been married for 20 years already? When did that happen? Well, it did! In honor of the special day I am using these two lovely shades of pink and green because they were our beautiful wedding colors. YES- this should have been my first clue that Dave was a kind, patient and giving man.  What a great day it was though! I will never ever forget the feelings I felt that day and the wonderful journey we started out on together~ with $50 in the bank and a lot of big dreams!!! :)  We really have been greatly blessed these last 20 years!!

So as you know, I have recently gone back to work and let me just say ummmmmmmmm....... its been a bit.... well....... grueling...... (how's that for an expressive word?)  So, I think for the first time in 20 years I kind of forgot our anniversary.  I have been so tired, stressed etc.. that I didn't really put a lot of thought into it this year until this showed up Tuesday morning!!!!

What a surprise!! Two dozen BEAUTIFUL red roses... I was very surprised. Dave had left for work about an hour before.  I was in the kitchen doing dishes and he popped around the corner with these roses (scared me to death) and surprised me! It TOTALLY brightened my day! They are the prettiest roses I have ever had! I hope they last a LONG time!  I have never had TWO DOZEN before!  Thank you Dave!  Then he came home early from work (4:45-- this NEVER happens), had reservations to a great restaurant (Maggianos) and a great table outside... we broke the bank and got appetizers, and dessert with our dinner! It was awesome! :) Then we went to a movie... It was such a needed break.  For about the first half hour I was feeling the stresses of life still and then about half way through dinner Dave had me laughing and talking and feeling groovy! :)  It was so great to spend time with him and to remember how lucky I am to have a best friend who is there for me in good and bad times.  I love Dave so much.  I am so grateful that he married me!! What a wonderful husband he has been! :)
We are hoping to take a trip late in the summer just the two of us to REALLY celebrate the big 2-0! I can't wait!! :)

They started out the morning by having breakfast and then playing LIFE SIZED Mario Kart (with wagons and cardboard), then they came home took a break... then pictures, dinner, dance and then they went to the Blue Man group. They had so much fun! What a great group of friends Matt has! We are so grateful for them! It's amazing how fast High School has gone by! This is his last HS dance ever! Sad!! It's been so much fun~ He has had a great experience during his HS years.

Remembering...

This month marks three years since my Mom passed away~ I know I posted about this last year, but I just can't help but think about her this time of year. I will make this one brief - I grow more and more appreciative each year for having had such a wonderful mother. I think that it is a rare thing to have the kind of mom that I had. She was such a selfless, sweet, kind and generous person. I miss her so much! Being a mom has helped me to realize just how great she was! I am in awe of the way she mothered. Our house was a home because of her. We all knew we were loved and enjoyed being near her more than anything! I love you Mom!!! :)

Spring Break-Easter

This years Spring break was a laid back one for us... Since Dave and I both had to work, the kids were able to just enjoy being home ~ Here's some of the lowdown: General Conference, board games, choreographed dance parties, Karaoke, movies, Risk tournaments, sonic, Hiking Redrock, Drive in Movie ( a spring break tradition for us on a mattress -- tons of blankets in the back of the truck)- Monsters vs. Aliens ( super good!), yard work, spring house cleaning, photo shoot, park etc.. etc..

Saturday night the COUSINS came! Yea! Cher, Bry, Deb, Rob and fam cam on their way to California. It was super fun to have all the cousins here for Easter.  We did an easter egg hunt in the back yard and the big kids all got BAGS of candy. YUmmY! We did the BIG ham dinner (for 30 people) with Dorothy, Greg, Rich, Heidi & kids all joining us too! It was a great day

Monday the kids reluctantly headed back to school, Dave back to work and Tuesday and Wednesday I headed back to work... It was a good week, nice for the kids to just relax and have some down time! We are still adjusting to me working~ it's kind of tricky!  Can't believe there are only about 6 weeks of school left!  This year went by soooooo fast! WOW!

Bump on the head and new job-

So this week started off with a bang! Sunday Dave was carrying a big t.v. down the stairs on his shoulder, slipped, fell and the t.v. (about 100 pounds) flew up and came down on his head. He had an obvious concussion (slept almost all day and was a bit loopy) After a LOT of coaxing he went to the ER and got a CT of his head and it was okay! PHEW!  I was really worried about him! He has had bad swelling on his head/face all week and a major headache-OUCH! I started my job on Monday~It was a long week. It will definitely take some getting used to. Without expounding too much, (because it wouldn't be good) I will just say this- I love and miss my kids. They were AWESOME this week!  I came home everyday to a spotless house~ they worked so hard to make it easier on me.  THANK YOU!!!
KID UPDATE:  Matt - off crutches,  studying for AP tests, finishing his dresser in wood shop, having 2 non-member friends over for GC Sunday, asked his date to Prom, and can DRIVE again! Yea!  Lindsey- finished her sewing project- a VERY cute purse, passed off KNOWLEDGE value in PP, is playing volleyball in YW and babysitting up a storm! Katie- read 3 huge books in the past 2 weeks, "Redwall" "Ghosts in the Graveyard" and "Peter and the Shadow Thieves" she is such a little reader!  She is always found curled up on the couch or in her room reading! Love it!!  Ellie - doing awesome in math!  She aces her math test every week!  Maybe she will be our "math" girl! She bought walkie talkies with her OWN money this week and is LOVING them...
Looking forward to Conference this weekend, some time with the family and Spring Break!
