Petunias, gerber daisies, marigolds, geranium, snap dragon, and verbena... love them!!!
Its Springtime in Las Vegas... my favorite rose tree is in full bloom, my trees are leafing out and I planted flowers Monday/Tuesday this week. Next week marks FIVE years since my mom passed away. I have posted a little remembrance of her every year. I love her so much and miss her dearly! Nothing reminds me of my Mom more (other than homemade bread) than going to a nursery, buying flowers and planting them. She used to get so excited to do this every spring. Her flower beds (especially in Provo) were absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! After I was married I would go over and visit her frequently and she be out in the back yard working in her flower beds... we would always walk around the back yard and she would show me her flowers and tell me the names of them and show me what had just bloomed that morning. She truly loved it... and because she did, so do I. Yesterday I took my daughters outside and taught them the names of the flowers and we planted them in some pots and put them on our front porch and on my Dad's patio. We aren't able to have a big flower garden... but nothing cheers you up more than flowers! I love them! They are so bright, beautiful, dainty, fresh, fragrant and in so many varied colors, shapes, sizes. My favorite flower is a daisy. I had beautiful white daisies in Cedar City. This week I bought red Gerber Daisies to plant. Flowers don't last very long in the heat here... but I plant every spring anyway... because I love it. Something about the dirt and the sun and the water are so therapeutic to me. We also planted 12 zucchini plants! If they work-- Look out! They will be coming out of our ears!! :))
Katie at her orchestra festival... I wasn't able to go because of work, and Dave forgot to take the camera, but she had a great time at festival with her school two Saturday's ago. (I stole this picture off of a friends blog.) Lindsey also had her festival competition last week on a Tuesday. She is in the advanced orchestra and Katie is in the intermediate. Katie was invited to play the cello with the advanced orchestra for their festival... so they got to go together. Lindsey has also been asked to be the piano accompanist for the Fiddle Club on their California trip next month! Way to go girls!! :)
