Making hygiene kits with the Cook Family |
Putting together hygiene kits |
Debbie had an awesome idea to do some hygiene kits for the local people of Puerto Penasco. The Cooks (another owner of doTERRA) were there the same week we were and they joined in on the project. We collected underwear, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream and razors. Tuesday night the Cooks came over and we assembled the kits. We had an awesome experience giving these away on Friday. One that I hope we never forget. It was so humbling. We were able to meet people living in complete poverty. It was very eye opening. I am so glad Debbie thought to do this. It was extremely meaningful.

3 teenage girls sacked out on the couch after a long "hard" day :) |
Lovin the sun and the pool!! We spent lots of hours just relaxing by the pool and swimming...It was awesome!
Brynne and Ellie braided their hair the second day. They both got some major sunburns too...They were in the pool like 12 hrs a day!
Here's Dave and I sporting the "gordo" Look ... nice.
After getting fried the first couple of days everyone was sure to slather on the sunscreen every time they came out!
The classic, "I'm at the beach shot" ... ahh... so relaxing!
Here's Ellie after she took out her braids... Lions mane!! :)
Peeling shrimp. The kids all had to peel and clean the shrimp... they said it was disgusting!

The resort had awesome pools and jacuzzi's. We loved every minute of it. |
view off our balcony!! The beach was beautiful! The water was clean and clear and warm! LOVED IT! |
Alyson and Katie on the jet ski... They were loving it!! Katie even got to drive!
Bry taught Linds they way on the jet skiis. I tried, and failed so Bry took over and showed her how to drive like a pro!
They sold these AMAZING mangoes on the beach. They were delicious!! Seriously, the best mangoes I have ever had. They were huge, juicy and awesome! They carved them into a flower and sold them for $2. Dave and I had to get a cheesy shot of this one!! :)
Ellie after her "official" corn rows. CUTE!
Me and Ellie with a mango... nice shot, eh?
The kids were playing soccer with a little boy on the beach.. They thought his name was Lucas, after several hours they found out his name was "Louis", nice, real nice.
Lindsey getting her hair braided by Francisca, a woman from Oaxaca who was working to support her family. When Bry found out she was from Oaxaca (where Garrett is serving) we wanted to help her, so we had all the girls get their hair braided!! They didn't really want to do it, and it was kind of painful for some, but it was a service project. I think it was CUTE!!
Katie after her braids! :)

Maxwell....
Dave absolutely LOVED the catamaran sailing! This is what he did with his Dad when he was a little boy every Thursday before his Dad died. He seriously just LOVED it. He went twice. Rodolfo was hesitant to let him go the second time and he just persisted and kept bugging him... then finally right before we had to leave on Saturday he and Bry headed out and had a ball!!!!
hideous pic of me... but oh well....
Dave and Bry heading out! :)
Hoover Dam on the way home... we had never seen the new bridge... we drove through and took a few pics!
Last picture of the trip... Right after we crossed the border back into Arizona! It was an awesome time!! :) LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Side note: Bry and I were actually kind of under the weather for this trip. The first couple of days Bry had "el grippe" and then he hurt his back and was in serious pain for the last 2-3 days, especially on the way home. We were both living on the little blue pills--ibuprofen liquid gels.
I hurt my neck, I think I had whiplash, clear back from when I went skiing in March. It never really hurt until the night before we left and then suddenly I couldn't move my neck AT ALL. By the time we got to Cedar City on Sunday evening I was in major pain. I had to get some medicine from my Dad. I took lortab and it didn't even touch it. I was up all night that night in pain, crying. We were contemplating going to the ER. I got a blessing the next morning and it eased up. Then that night after we got to Mexico it flared up again and I was up all night in such bad pain. I was wearing a neck brace. It was lovely. I literally couldn't move my neck at all. I couldn't even move it to eat. It was the WORST. But after a few days it loosened up. By the last couple of days I was able to move it... argh... it was kind of a bummer. But it was good that I was able to be somewhere where I could relax!! :)
