Happy Pioneer Day and Matt's BDAY!!! #23

For the 24th we were bored so we went to Matt and Casey's apartment (at the villa) and then we went over to the nickel cade... me, the girls, matt and casey. It was more fun than we thought. We topped it off with a frozen yogurt and then that night we had dinner at our house with Matt and Casey to celebrate Matt's big 23 the next day!! Time flies! He got some sweet fishing and camping gear! :) Love that boy.

Lindsey O- she's always injured -O

Poor Lindsey has been injured every single xc or track season... but she fights through it like a champ! Proud of her. We have had to do physical therapy and ibuprofen for the last 4 years! haha! She was mad at me for taking these pictures and freaked out when I put them on her instagram for some strange reason-- haha.. she made me delete that one... oh the joys of teasing a teenager :)

TREK 2014

Dave and I were priveleged to be called as a Ma and Pa for our stake trek this year. It was awesome! It was a great experience for us to go. It was hard and we had some rough moments physically, but we did it! Boy were we blessed with a great "family" and we had some really awesome spiritual moments learning about the pioneers and our ancestors! I had no idea of all of my Garner and Bertoch ancestors that crossed the plains. It was a great learning experience.

So, months ago when we were called to be a Ma and Pa Dave and I were actually really worried. We aren't in peak performance, as many know... but we really wanted to go and felt that the Lord wanted us there too. Dave went on scout camp just a few weeks before trek and really struggled physically with the hiking. Matt even told me he didn't think that Dave should go on trek. So we were praying really hard that he would be okay. Our kids were praying really hard too. We treked a total of about 28 miles and on the hardest day (13 hrs) we were amazed that Dave had no difficulty. It was hard for him, but he was not huffing and puffing like we thought he would be. He was able to do it without much problem at all. He had a few blisters on his feet, but cardiovascularly he was fine! We kept up and it all went so well. We felt like it was really a miracle on it's own. Incentive to get out there and get in shape too!! We loved it. I only share this story because it felt like a miracle to us. We got home and I told Ellie about how well he did and she said, "That's because I was praying for him the whole time Mom." :)

Scera Shell Summer theater

It was lots of fun to go see Les Mis at the Scera summer theater with Grammie, Dorothy, Heidi, Lindsey, Katie, Ellie, Sierra, Kristi, Cosi and Dave was the LONE man!! Hahaha! It was loads of fun!

Cross Country Breakfast

So every summer the cross country team has the Seniors take turns having breakfast at their house every friday after a run. It is so hard to believe that Lindsey is a senior this year!!! We hosted the team over for a breakfast of waffles, fruit and juice. They pounded it!! They are such awesome kids! So grateful that my girls have been able to be a part of this team!! :) Here they are doing abs after their run! :)
